Treasure the Freedom of Working for Yourself
Let’s face it we are at a point in time of uncertainty. Job stability right now is shakey, and people everywhere are wondering if working for yourself is the better answer. It could be, depending on the type of person you are.
Have you ever considered working for yourself? Maybe you realize how difficult it is to find a job right now. Being at the right place at the right time helps, but you have talents and skills that can put you down a path, working for yourself and be successful in doing so.
Business Insider has a list of 25 fun jobs you could do working for yourself. Albeit, some require formal education or pull on industry talent.
What if you aren’t a graphic artist, computer programmer, teacher, or auto mechanic? You will be surprised to find out one of the top 15 fun jobs they list is a grocery shopper.
Let’s face it, the way we shop for groceries will forever be changed with the COVID19 pandemic. Not everyone loves going to the grocery store, to begin with, and the pandemic showed them there is a new way to shop.
Instacart saw an opportunity to solve a problem, and they sure are doing a great job at it. They’re not just delivering from your local grocer anymore.
Instacart has expanded and now offers delivery from liquor stores, Best Buy, Family Dollar, Sephora, Christmas Tree Shops, Costco, BJ’s, CVS, Petco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Five Below, and Staples, to name a few.
Instacart is currently privately held and owned by the employees, company founders, and venture capitalists. I would expect it to go public at any time, and I would expect the employees to benefit when it does. Instacart really cares about their employees and understands that without them, they would have no business. Instacart works hand in hand together with the employees to improve their business model and the services they offered.
Instacart has two avenues to working for yourself. The Full-Service shopper shops and delivers to the customer’s door. This shopper must be at least 18 yrs of age, have access to a reliable car, be eligible to work in the United States, use a smartphone, and lift 50 pounds on their own. After going through a background check and passing, you’re working for yourself. You choose the hours you want to work and the jobs you want to take. Just like anyone else working for yourself, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
The best shoppers have early access to the better jobs. If you take pride in what you do, think like your customer, and have good communication, you will do well. Pay is based on the area you shop, the distance you travel for the job, and the length of the list. I found on Indeed.com ads for shoppers where they say they can make up to $82,000 a year.
The In-Store Shopper must also be at least 18 yrs. of age, be eligible to work in the United States, use a smartphone, and lift 50 pounds on their own, but they do not need access to a reliable car.
They shop and stage the orders inside the store for pick up. They schedule their own hours and are working for themselves. Whether you are a Full-Service Shopper or an In-Store Shopper you also get bonus pay when you refer others to begin contracting with Instacart.
Working for yourself has many benefits. It’s flexible, you schedule your time to work when you want. You control the money you are going to make and the customers you want to service. The better you are at servicing your customers, the more money you make. The more people you help get what they want, the more money you make.
